You don’t have to download an app

If you’ve already looked around for free international calls online, there’s a good chance you’ve been asked to download an app, set up an account, top up with credit…

Just stop.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of providers out there that expect you to download extra programs and apps just to be able to connect to international numbers.

Now – we absolutely live in a world where most of us are app-happy, but plenty of people are wary about what they’re downloading to their devices and signing up for, too.

What’s more, you never know who you’re letting into your phone or giving your personal details to with some of these services!

Therefore, no matter how alluring a free international calls service might sound, if you’re expected to download apps, chances are it’s too good to be true.

You don’t have to stay on WiFi

Ok – plenty of us do have regular access to WiFi, but that doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee for absolutely everybody. However, plenty of free international calling services expect you to connect to their proxies via WiFi rather than mobile data.

There’s a couple of issues with this. For one thing, if you want to speak to people overseas and you’re not at home, you’d be forced to use public WiFi hotspots, which are infamously easy to hack into. Every time you connect to one of those, you’re putting your phone and your data at risk.

What’s more – what’s wrong with good old mobile data? 5G is now at a point where it’s incredibly speedy and stable, meaning many people actually prefer to stick to mobile internet over seeking out public WiFi.

On top of all of that, there’s people who just don’t want to speak over the internet. They’d prefer to just have a quick chinwag with the people they love over the landline or a simple mobile call. We haven’t moved so far forward that we can’t rely on some old technology!

You don’t have to sign up for a contract

Here’s a big one. In some cases, services that claim to offer you free international calls (‘with no catches’) might expect you to sign up and log into their platform for a certain amount of time.

No one likes being tied down – but unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to get caught out. If you’re one who is never too fussed about reading the fine print, this is one scenario you might find it hard to back out of.

(For the record, it’s always worth reading the terms and conditions of anything you sign up for. They keep you safe and informed!)

Again, if a free international calls service seems too good to be true – suss it out. Check out the terms and conditions, and see what’s hidden in plain sight. You should never have to tie yourself in just to be able to call overseas for free!

Can I still save money if 0845s and 0870s aren’t included in my plan?

Yes, of course! Our access numbers offer cut-rate international calls even if you can’t get in touch for free.

If you’re calling an 0845 access number without plan coverage, you’ll be charged your network’s standard access fee, and a further 5p per minute for however long you’re on the phone for.

0870 numbers are a little more expensive, but still chargeable at a fraction of what you’d expect to pay for overseas calls with some mobile and landline plans! Calling an 0870 access number without coverage means you’ll pay 12p per minute, plus the rate of your provider’s access charge.

Ultimately, we want to keep people from all over the world connected for less. Sure – video calls and WiFi calling are accessible alternatives for some people, but when you just want to pick up the phone and put the world to rights, you can still use the old dog and bone without paying through the nose.
